IRONWORKER
JOB DESCRIPTION 1. High School Diploma or equal (G.E.D.)2. Sign up with local union apprenticeship program.
3. Must pass drug test (at applicant's expense) prior to acceptance in apprenticeship program.
4. Attend apprenticeship school for three years, while working on the job.
A. Take off work and go to school for one week periods.
B. Make up for any failed classes.
C. Must pass all class tests to be advanced to next pay period.
D. Must pass all classes over a three year period to become journey person ironworker.
E. If you cannot meet apprenticeship requirements, you will be dropped from the program and will be terminated from employment.
5. Must have transportation to get to assigned job sites.
6. Must be reliable to get to work on time, ready with all tools to do a day of good work.
7. Must be physically strong and agile enough to do repetitive work for prolonged periods of time
A. Carry heavy loads of rebar on shoulder from storage area to where it is being installed
B. Must bend over for long periods of time, while tying reinforcing steel together.
C. Must be agile enough to walk over voided spaces while stepping on steel intersections while tying and carrying steel.
D Must be able to climb steel walls while carrying and tying steel.
E. Must following directions from foreman or lead person.
F. Must work in a safe manner and follow all safety orders.
